Freudian Sip is a local coffee shop with several locations at the California State University. This logo is visually inspired by the Vienna Secession because of Freud's involvement in Vienna when he first became well-known.
I explored several directions early on, including using coffee to create stains and drawings that refer to Freud or psychology. I also explored making Rorschach test ink blots that look like Freud and coffee. I landed on the Vienna Secession direction because it referred to the time and place that Freud was very well-known, and this direction was the most feasible option with the time and resource I had at hand. I painted the basic form of the mark using acrylic, scanned the painting digitally, and used Photoshop to complete the mark.
